Today marks the first time we've heard little Juan Valdez Watson/Mrs. Olson's (inside joke relating to babies and coffee, there's about three people who'll get it) heartbeat.
At just about 8 weeks, we had our first 'real' appointment today, and the biggest most exciting part of it was getting to hear the heartbeat! We arrived at the doctor's office fully prepared for this momentous event; Becky thought she was going to puke. The doctor, after warning us that chances were pretty good we wouldn't hear anything, got her little listening device thingie positioned over Becky's belly and started moving it around. Imagine our surprise when after just a few seconds of searching we suddenly heard it; rapid, noisy, but VERY strong. Becky said she looked over at me and I had the biggest, goofiest grin she'd ever seen on my face. The doctor counted beats and told us the heart is beating at 175 beats per minute, which is a great indicator.
I tell you what, I've seen and heard some pretty incredible things in my life, but nothing compares with this! It kind of added some tangible evidence that yes indeed, there certainly is a baby in there! So anywho, I'm all melty now, so I'm gonna go. More to foller!
