Long Time Comin'

Well, it's been forever and this may be the longest post to date. Clara Ann Watson was born July 25th, 2007 @ 9:37 AM. She weighed 8lbs. 12oz. and was 21 inches long. The labor wasn't too bad (I can say that now because I've forgotten most of it) but I know it will be a long time before I do that again! But it was so worth it...because she is so amazing and being a parent has come so naturally. You know how when you get married you have that weird feeling of being someone's spouse? It's kinda wierd to say "this is my wife/husband". Well, I thought it would be that way about saying "this is my daughter" or about being a mom but it's not, it's like Clara has always been a part of us. I was worried about what our lives were going to be like after the baby was born...if we would still have some of the freedom that we had before. Even though we wanted a child, it's still the biggest life change so I was scared that we would never get to have the kind of fun that we did whenever we wanted. It doesn't even matter anymore...I've completely forgotten what my life was like without her. SHE is by far, the coolest thing we've ever done.
So here she is...Baby Clara
Adjusting to a new baby hasn't been too difficult, I'm definately one for being prepared so we had everyhing we needed and I thought that we did a pretty good job at being ready. What we weren't ready for was having to stay an extra day in the hospital. Clara had jaundice and had to spend some time under the lights in the nursery. When we came home with her she still had to be under the lights so they sent a bili-bed with us, James called her the "blue light special" :)

Finally after a week at home her bilirubin levels started to go down and the jaundice went away. We laugh at the shades she had to wear ;)
Since then she's had her first outing... the traditional first bath in the kitchen sink... she hated it!And her first trip to SD to visit grandma and grandpa Eich and the Great g-ma and g-pa Malsam. Clara is the first grand child and great grandchild on my moms side.

She is also the first grand daughter for James' parents...I don't have a picture of both of them with the baby yet but grandpa Watson is pretty tickled with her, he's wrapped around her finger already.

James' parents have twin grandsons, Will and Owen. They are 2 and will be fun playmates for Clara someday. Right now they love looking at her feet!

We just spent the Labor Day weekend up at the cabin with them and Clara was able to wear her new swimming suit given to her by Katie Ortman. We didn't get to do much sunbathing though, it was a little too cool outside for baby.
At the present time I am still on maternity leave which is a blast. I spend my days catching up on sleep, looking for daycare and taking pictures of Clara. We've also done a lot of window shopping, we've gotta get some miles on that stroller before winter hits.
Here's a picture of the new family and a recent picture of the baby, then I think I have to be done for this post. I will have more later...lots more.

You all make the cutest family! And Clara is so beautiful! Grams wrote to my dad and said that she’d seen her, but didn’t give much detail. I’m so happy that you guys are doing well.

I'm so glad you guys finally posted! I have been getting updates from the P Watsons (well, mostly from Nicole -- Owen and Will aren't too forthcoming with the info). Congratulations!! Clara is so gorgeous. I can't wait to meet her.
